Gas
Regulatory Framework
Regulatory
arrangements for Gas Access in Western Australia
implement a uniform national framework for access
to gas pipelines initially agreed by all Australian
Governments on 25 February 1994.
The objective of this uniform national framework
is to:
- facilitate the development and operation
of a national market for natural gas;
- prevent abuse of monopoly power;
- promote a competitive market for natural
gas in which customers may choose suppliers, including
producers, retailers and traders; and provide
rights of access to natural gas pipelines on conditions
that are fair and reasonable for the owners and
operators of gas transmission and distribution
pipelines and persons wishing to use the services
of those pipelines; and
- provide for resolution of disputes.
More information relating to Western Australia’s
regulatory framework is available on the Economic
Regulation Authority Website.
