Safety is responsible for the technical and
safety regulation of all the electrical industry
and most of the gas industry in Western Australia.
Economic
Regulation Authority - The Economic Regulation
Authority is the independent economic regulator
for Western Australia. It oversees regulation
and licensing in the State for the gas, electricity,
water and rail industries and inquires into matters
referred to it by the State Government. The Authority’s
functions are designed to benefit the Western
Australian community by maintaining a competitive,
efficient and fair commercial environment, particularly
where businesses operate as natural monopolies.
Sustainable
Energy Development Office (SEDO) - Established
in November 2001 to implement the Government of
Western Australia's sustainable energy policy.
SEDO's role is to accelerate the adoption of renewable
energy and energy efficiency and to further develop
a sustainable energy industry which contributes
to the State's economy.
Office
of Energy - Supports the performance of the
statutory functions of the Coordinator of Energy.
The Office of Energy provides a range of services
on energy matters to the Minister for Energy,
Government, the energy sector and the West Australian
community
Australian
Institute of Energy - Provides leadership
on energy and promotes understanding and awareness
of energy issues and the development of responsible
energy policies in Australia.
Remco
- The Retail Market Administrator for the contestable
retail gas markets of South Australia and Western
Australia. REMCo's role is to administer the business
processes between the gas market businesses in
Western Australia and South Australia that allow
gas retailers to cost effectively compete for
the supply of gas to almost 1,000,000 customers
in these states.
